The discussion method is a learning-focused method between teachers and students or among students. This learning method is an open-ended exchange of different ideas with the sole purpose of learning, solving problems, and understanding concepts.
Discussions are more practical and effective when both parties involved have a basic understanding of the topic of discussion to enable them to share their opinions, respond to other people’s ideas to gain knowledge.
Discussion methods are essential in changing an individual’s attitude or idea, sharing knowledge, and making specific conclusions.
The group discussion method increases class participation and individual involvement as well as training in self-expression.
Discussion methods can, however, not be used in all learning topics, especially with technical topics that require a teacher to instill knowledge to the student.
